Hello fellow Illumineers!
Welcome to the next instalment of my Meta Deck Review series!

As you know, every Lorcana deck is built from two inks, and with six inks currently available, we have 15 unique pairings—each with its own strategy, strengths, and identity. Today, we’re taking a look at a classic deck: Amber Steel Song.

Amber brings explosive characters that can quest for 2 or more lore or has Singer ability. Steel complements this perfectly with indirect damage, efficient challengers, card draw boosts, and surprisingly solid mid-range support. Together, these inks form a deck that’s tempo base but can still go under if needed to!

The deck plays slow, and keep board control and once a threat comes in, use your songs to remove them!

As always, this review is based on my own testing and observations. I’ll break down what I see as the core cards, good-to-have options, and flex slots for the archetype. If you’ve found success with different builds or tech choices, feel free to share them—our community grows stronger when we learn from each other!

Core Cards

These are the heart and engine of the deck. Without them, the deck simply does not function the way it’s meant to. These cards form the backbone of the deck. They enable the core strategy and are non-negotiable in competitive builds.

A great 1 drop, probably the only one in the deck, the -1 can come in handy but allows you to shift into Big Rhino asap!

A great ramp card for you to have as little ink as possible but play very high cost character in no time!

Singer 3 but most importantly can be played at turn 1 if you go second!

When you run out of cards, simply play Lilo from your discard and start to put more pressure on your opponent! 2 drop for 2 lore and can keep coming!

More singer to your deck, allowing you to sing 4 cost songs in turn 3 and the resist is hard to get rid off.

When you run out of cards, this is a good way to refill them!

1 drop for Shift Rhino and the play effect is very underrated, it can block someone from banishing your characters in challenges.

A fantastic Rhino, shifts at turn 2 and has great Strength, able to Resist as long as he has no damage and 2 lore, very versatile card for the deck! Good singer too.

Nani allows you to search for some key cards like Doc in the mid game and the stats is pretty solid for a 3 cost too.

Once you built up your board, this is a very lethal card, can take down a lot of characters for you! Can be sung be your 3 drop characters.

Another key song for the draw effect as well as reducing cost so you can play out your big guys!

A perfect Bodyguard that once on board is so hard to get rid off because of the 5/5!

Such an important card to get rid of opposing non character cards in hand, pretty safe to say that a board wipe action won’t be coming to you soon.

A great character on the board, you can use your cards in hand to throw 2 damage at a character! So you have more source of damage!

Another key song to have for you to throw some heavy damage to some opposing characters that you find it hard to deal with!

If you can play him out early, you can keep questing with him and then draw cards along the way!

Support Cards

These cards enhance the deck’s performance but are not mandatory. These cards provide stability and push the deck’s power further. They’re flexible, and while not essential, they significantly improve overall performance.

Ariel is not mandatory but her boost effect allows you to draw a card for each song played so you can keep the engine going!

A nice card to have for the late game where instead of top decking, just use Goliath to keep drawing cards!

Since you are running a song combo, shift Ariel can help too with more damage dealing effects.

Another song to consider, this allows you to search for a character and can be sung easily.

A 1 drop to consider for you to throw away some unwanted card or Lilo to the discard in the early game.

Flex Slots / Tech Choices

These are interchangeable options that let you adjust the deck based on local meta trends or personal preference. They fill similar roles or offer tech answers depending on what you’re expecting to face.

If you think you cannot deal with some high cost characters, then 2 copies of this song can help you get rid of them.

If you are greedy enough, and with enough singers, this can be useful to see more cards and get more characters you wanted.

Well since we are singing, why not sing more and draw more. You can even use this to discard your opponent’s hand and draw again.

This may seem spicy but any time you can replay your Doc from discard is a good effect and since you have enough singers, why not.

Combine all your singers, this is definitely not hard to trigger and you can take down 3 characters!

If you need more singer, she is an option.

Conclusion

Amber Steel Song became a top deck in this season, they are one of the most efficient and punishing decks in the meta. They keep the pace strong and controls the rush decks but also make things uncomfortable for the control decks!

If you enjoy playing songs and comboing your singers you can give it a go—and always remember: Lorcana is Fun!
